City Health Office to put up P130-M building

THE Iloilo City Health Office (CHO) is planning to build a five-story building to accommodate and provide the residents more medical services.

The new CHO structure will be constructed at the old slaughterhouse site in Molo district.

City Health Officer Dr. Bernard Caspe said the City Government proposed for a P130-million building to the Department of Health (DOH) and the latter granted it.

“The DOH will download first the P30 million out of P130 million to us by December since the construction will be phase by phase. The City Government provides the lot and office furniture while the building and equipment will be provided by DOH,” Caspe said.

DOH will also give an estimated P30 million to P40 million worth of medical equipment.

“It will be a one-stop medical shop wherein more residents can avail of the free services in a spacious area,” he added.

The ground level of the new building will include the consultation area, ultra sound, x-ray machine, counseling room, and laboratory for blood chemistry.

The second floor will be for minor surgical room, while the third floor will be for dental services and cold room. The fourth and fifth floors are for CHO personnel offices.

CHO is currently located at the second floor of City Hall and its administration division at the 5th floor. (PR)
