THE Lopue's Table Tennis Association (Loptta) headed by Dr. Leonito "Diotay" Lopue joined the First Mayor Patrick Escalante Invitational Table Tennis Championship held in Cadiz Arena at Cadiz City on July 7.

Loptta players brought home four golds and one bronze won from different events.

In the 18 and under girls singles event, Micah Tanate won the championship over Kimberly De la Cruz of Sagay City in the finals while Ayumi Iida settled at second runner-up.

George Saligumba dominated his opponents in the 18 and under Boys singles event from the start to the end as he claimed the championship.

Shaun Rain Jardinico likewise stands out in the 14 and under Boys singles event after gaining the gold over Carlo Miguel Macariola of Sagay in their crucial match during the finals.

The training and sacrifices were worth it for Joaquin Bragancia after winning the championship in the 10 and under Boys singles event.

Loptta team also brought their neophytes - San Montero, Hector Gloria III, Samantha Samulde, Franz Jedric Geganto and Christian Java - for their first tournament exposure and their training was paid off.

Christian Java reached the top 16 in his category. Meanwhile, Aishea Appe, Cherrica Uytiepo, and Nathalie Librando fell short in the quarterfinals.

Coach Marell Lagunday led the team together with Coach Pastor Hosea Alvarez and the parents who supported the tournament. (PR)
