Korean NGO to sponsor ITLS training for hospital personnel

MEDIPEACE Global Health, a non-government organization based in South Korea, will sponsor the conduct of International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) training for the Emergency Room (ER) nurses of Iloilo's 12 hospitals.

ITLS is a global organization dedicated to preventing death and disability from trauma through education and emergency trauma care.

Five ER nurses from each of the 12 hospitals will undergo training for two days.

Medipeace representatives Hyemi Kim and Hyunmi Ryu are currently in Iloilo to facilitate the conduct of the trainings.

Kim said ITLS training would enhance the capability of the ER nurses of the 12 hospitals in attending to emergency situations.

Kim also said that Medipeace will donate additional two ambulances to the province, specifically for Aleosan District Hospital and Barotac Viejo District Hospital, bringing a total of 14 ambulances donated since 2015.

Governor Arthur Defensor Sr. is thankful to Medipeace Global Health for their continuous support to the various health programs of the province.

To note, Medipeace has been instrumental in the implementation of the US$7 million Iloilo Georaphically Isolated and Disadvantaged Area Health System project of the Korea International Cooperation Agency, which established new health facilities in Aleosan District Hospital in Alimodian, Jesus Colmenares Memorial District Hospital in Balasan, and Dr. Ricardo S. Provido Memorial District Hospital in Calinog.

Medipeace has been a partner of the province for the past six years. Aside from donating ambulances, the organization also sponsored Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardio Pulmonary Life Support Training for 48 health workers from the 12 district hospitals of the province.

It has also helped improve the services of Rural Health Units and district hospitals through the various medical equipment they have donated. (PR)
