Vinluan: The truth and myths of fitness

FITNESS myths have been taken as a fact by exercise enthusiasts and even exercise buffs. However, exercising and putting time and effort on something that you are not sure of delivering desired results can also damage the body.

Most likely, people with flabby abdomen will be thinking that abdominal exercises alone can result and provide them a flat stomach. Doing abdominal crunches will surely work your muscles and help improve posture - but not the fat, because we can’t lose weight on a specific part of our body. In order to lose fat, target for and maintain a healthy weight coupled with exercise, saying goodbye to the fat in your belly is by burning more calories.

Some believe that effective exercise has to be aerobic and strenuous and entails to go for the burn. However, it is always good to have a balanced exercise program that includes strength training and stretching. Know to schedule your activities by alternating difficult exercise days with easier ones so you do not over train and reserve days to rest so your body can recover, remember that good exercise does not entail getting hurt.

Strength and improving muscle tone is a goal that both genders may share, and as strength training has become popular, bulking up however, is another story, as most women think twice before lifting weights because of the fear of having to look like a bodybuilder. Fortunately, women do not have enough testosterone hormones that men have to bulk up their muscles.

If you do not burn more calories than you eat, you will still gain that extra weight. It is good though that exercise helps make you aware of your body’s needs. However, regular exercise does not excuse you from eating, and instead of exercise making you hungry, it helps control your appetite so that you eat only what your body requires.

Having your own dietician, personal trainer, and the best exercise would help you to go leaps and bounds in health and fitness but certainly it will cost you. Nowadays, the information you need to know about health and fitness are readily available in social media, magazines, newspapers etc.

So why not read, read, read, because so many breakthroughs to become fit and healthy are being discovered, make wise decisions that can keep your body in top condition, after all you are the master of your own wellbeing.
