Davao-Go-Duterte beats Tin24 anew

THE Kadayawan Invitational Basketball Tournament-bound Davao-Go-Duterte came from behind to escape Tin24 Davao, 79-74, in their second tune-up game held Tuesday evening at the Arcadia Active Lifestyle basketball gym.

Mahloney Tarranza sizzled with 19 points to help Davao-Go-Duterte find its momentum late in the third quarter.

Joshua Aguilon and Conrad Fernando also chipped in 10 and nine points, respectively.

Miguel Pacheco and James Linares made identical six points.

Tin24 Davao, motivated by the heartbreaking 64-94 blowout defeat in their first encounter last Sunday, July 8, opened the game with solid trap defense, keeping their rivals at bay in the first three quarters.

Jong Labastida, Christopher Jatico and Jan Rey Lumogda totalled 43 points for Tin24 Davao.

Labastida was almost unstoppable while Jatico remained consistent.

But the momentum shifted to Davao-Go-Duterte's favor at the homestretch with Tarranza at the helm.

Their relentless defense forced Tin24 Davao to succumb to turnovers and low-percentage shots to finally take the lead barely five minutes left in the game and they never looked back to seal the match.
