HOLCIM Philippines is rolling out new innovative construction solutions in a bid to capacitate their business partners in Mindanao.
“We want to develop the capability of business partners and innovative approach on how to help the partner to make sure that our government could provide building certainty in terms of professional consultations, and pro solutions,” Holcim Philippines Senior Vice President for Sales William Sumalinog said during the Habi at Kape press conference at Abreeza Ayala Malls last Wednesday, July 10, 2018.
In his presentation, one of the solutions they are introducing is the Solido approachm, which is seen to increase efficiency of road contractors. He said this could help with the swiftness of road-building.
On the other hand, the Soil Stabilization technique is a cost-efficient approach for soil improvement that will enable contractors to drastically reduce road construction time. Despite the rainy weather, Sumalinog said, the contractor could still pour out this cement.
Just like the roads in EDSA, Super-Fast Crete (SFCrete) approach is good for quick repairs in high traffic roads in urban areas. He added this is especially useful for areas that would need fast drying of cement. This has yet to be used in Mindanao but they are open for contractors who would want to partner with them and use SFCrete with their projects.
Another construction solution is the Dura plus (Dura+) which is a durable cement offering which causes long lifespan of infrastructure. He said it is a good alternative to Type II cement.
Sumalinog also noted that they are putting up a testing center called the Davao Tech Center, which will be the first in Mindanao and outside Metro Manila.
The Davao Tech Center will the capability to conduct concrete and soil analysis for partners in the region. There will also be two mobile labs to provide services and tests directly at the client’s jobsite, enabling their business partners and stakeholders to try the technology.
This innovation, Sumalinog said, can help with the Build, Build, Build program of the present administration.
“We believe that for so long, Mindanao has been left with development, and this is the right time that we can see development in Mindanao with the support of a multinational company making sure that it makes the lives of people easy,” he added. (Abigail Joyce Cahiwat, MSU-Marawi Intern)
