Official tells IDPs not to disrupt Capitol activities

PROVINCIAL Capitol officials urged the internally displaced persons (IDPs) staying at the Capitol grounds on July 10 not to disrupt official functions and public gatherings.

Lawyer Jeffrey Saclot, head of the provincial tourism department, said he is asking the displaced residents of Sitio Camansi, Banglay, in Lagonglong, Misamis Oriental, to respect official programs of the Provincial Government at the capitol ground, such as the flag raising rites.

Saclot made his personal comment after the "bakwits" staged a die-in protest even while the flag-raising ceremony was ongoing.

Saclot said a person or group who disturb official gathering are criminally liable under the law.

He said there is already a suggestion to step up security measures and add more police personnel to ensure that similar activities will not be disrupted in the future.

Provincial Jail warden Dominador Tagarda said Capitol security personnel have applied maximum tolerance when the evacuees staged protest.

He said it would be up to the top officials of the Capitol whether to add more policemen during flag raising ceremonies.
