Baguio police’s peace keeping efforts lauded

WITH the Baguio City Police Office (BCPO) at the helm, Baguio City has been recognized to be in the top 6 safest city among all cities in Southeast Asia.

Vice Mayor Edison Bilog said Baguio police deserve commendation as contribution in making the City of Baguio one of the safest cities in Southeast Asia.

Bilog said the feat is seen in www.numbeo.com, a data base about cities and countries worldwide that provides updated information on world living conditions which includes cost of living, house indicators, health care, traffic, crime and pollution.

In line with this, three police stations in the city have been awarded and recognized in terms of the performance which focused and contributed to the overall peace and order of the Summer Capital from January 1 to May 22, 2018.

Awardees are Station 7 under Chief Inspector Mario Evasco, Station 8 under Chief Inspector John Cayat Jr. and Station 2 under Chief Inspector Gil Imado for their operational accomplishments on the service of warrants on various crimes committed by wanted persons and other lawless elements.

The Traffic Enforcement Unit of the BCPO was also recognized for its three-day simultaneous “one time-big time” implementation of the city’s traffic ordinances that is related to anti-colorum, truck ban and anti-road obstruction campaign April 26 to 28 at the central business district resulting to 570 apprehensions.

Bilog added the BCPO deserve to be recognized because of the service and dedication to their job especially in conducting nightly patrols in the different barangays to maintain the peace and order.

“It was also based on the Resolution No. 183 series of 2018 to congratulate and commending the top performing police stations of the Baguio City Police Office for the first quarter of 2018 and the Police Officers who excelled in various fields” Bilog added.

Baguio cops also received a recognition for their outstanding performance including Police Officer (PO) 3 Fredy Balaki, Superintendent Jethro Moog, Senior Inspector Maila Alog, SPO1 Eduardo Balabag and Police Auxiliary Michael Corpuz.

PO3 Balaki was recognized for his accomplishment in the implementation of “Manhunt Charlie” of the Baguio City police which resulted in the neutralization of wanted persons in the city and nearby provinces eliminating threats to the community.

Supt. Moog and S/Insp. Alog were recognized for being the overall champion in the Regional Civil Disturbance Management Competition on April 2018.

SPO1 Balabag was commended for being the overall champion in the Mr. YMCA Body Building Competition in December 2017 while Corpuz was recognized as for his honesty in returning a wallet containing P10, 850 and ATM cards in March 2018.
