City to release salary of ‘summer jobbers’ next week

THE City Government of Bacolod will start releasing the salary of the "summer jobbers," who were hired for the Special Program for Employment (Spes) in the city, next week.

Ma. Rebecca Balicas, officer-in-charge of Public Employment Services Office (Peso), said yesterday the 1,600 "summer jobbers" will receive their 15 days salary amounting to P3,000 each.

"The city's cashier will schedule the release of their salaries by Monday or Tuesday and the youth should check their name first at the Peso office before they will proceed to the cashier," she said.

The City had earlier hired 1,600 youths for the summer jobs program, with the support of Spes of the Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) which ended in May.

Balicas said it took a month for them to process the payroll of the "summer jobbers" because most of the youth failed to submit their daily time records (DTR) on time.

"We give them enough time to submit so we can complete all their payrolls," she said.

The "summer jobbers" only required to bring identification card and community tax certificate or sedula to get their salaries.

Last year, Peso disallowed an authorization from parents because they were informed that those who claim on behalf of the students were deducting P300 for their pay.

Balicas said the "summer jobbers" should personally claim their salaries.
