Mandaue tightens security at City Hall

FOLLOWING the series of killings in Metro Cebu these past few weeks, the Mandaue City Government will tighten its security at City Hall and other offices.

In a memorandum, City Administrator Atty. Danilo Almendras asked all department heads to review security plans in their offices.

“It is imperative that each department or office shall review its security plan and adopt measures to strengthen security protocols,” he said. The memorandum was issued last Wednesday.

Almendras also said there is a need for City employees to be vigilant against possible threats.

He lamented the entry of an armed man, who was eventually shot dead by police, inside the Archbishop’s Palace and the killing of a councilor in Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City just outside the barangay hall.

“Everyone should have situational awareness of their surroundings and be mindful of any possible threats,” Almendras said.

Last Thursday, the city administrator also issued a memorandum on the implementation of security protocols at City Hall.

“All officials and personnel of the City Government of Mandaue shall, at all times, wear their identification cards within the premises of City Hall or in any offices and other facilities,” he said.

Those who fail to heed the directive will not be allowed to enter the City’s offices.

“All Janitorial and Security Services Unit and other security personnel shall implement the ‘No ID, No Entry policy,” he added. (JPP OF Superbalita Cebu)
