LTO’s Salcedo gets Oro’s full backing

THE City Council of Cagayan de Oro has passed a resolution requesting President Rodrigo Duterte to extend the term of Land Transportation Office (LTO) Northern Mindanao regional director Oscar Salcedo.

Salcedo has now reached the retirement age at 65.

But City Councilor Teodulfo Lao Jr., who filed the resolution, said Salcedo deserves more years in service for his outstanding performance.

Lao hailed Salcedo for streamlining the issuance of driver's license and vehicle registration, and for supposedly eliminating corruption within its office.

Salcedo claimed he has rid corruption, particularly giving gifts and favors in the LTO-Northern Mindanao office less than a year when he was appointed.

Just recently, Salcedo released plate numbers for the motor vehicles registered in 2016.

He has also strictly implemented the modernization of public utility jeepneys by penalizing smoke-belching jeepneys.

During his stint, Salcedo also started implementing speed limit for motorists particluarly in Bukidnon.

Salcedo for his part said he was thankful for the resolution passed by the council and for recognizing his achievements during his term.

“If given the chance, I am willing to extend my term. Kay kining tanan, serbisyo raman gyud ni para sa katawhan, mao ra gyud atong tuyo (My goal is to be in the service of the public),” he added.
