18 coastal villages flooded

AT LEAST 18 villages in the coastal towns of Macabebe and Masantol were submerged in floodwaters due to the intermittent heavy rains brought about by the southwest monsoon or habagat, the Pampanga Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported Sunday noon, July 15.

In Macabebe town, the villages of Consuelo, Castuli, San Jose, and portions of Caduang Tete, Saplad David, Sto. Niño and San Isidro were affected by the southwest monsoon rains and high tide.

Based on the report, Barangay Castuli was the most affected barangay with up to four feet of floodwaters.

A portion of Masantol which includes Barangays Alauli, Bagang, Nigui, San Agustin and Sapang Kawayan, and barangays in the Metro Plaza area namely San Isidro Matua, San Nicolas, Sta. Lucia Matua and Sta. Lucia Paguiaba also experienced one foot of flooding as the water flowed downstream.

All major roads were all passable as of Sunday noon while the Pampanga River water level on all stations are far from the alert status based on the assessment conducted by the disaster office.

The PDRRMO Operations Center remained activated and has placed a Disaster Response Equipment and Manpower on standby 24/7.

All city and municipal disaster management offices were advised to conduct activation and close monitoring of their respective areas.
