Ederdanio wins Run for Autism

LAPU-LAPU City’s Moira Frances Erediano flexed her muscles in the first edition of Reach Out Run for Autism in the SM City Cebu parking area yesterday, three weeks before her biggest race this year—the Ironkids Philippines 2018.

The junior triathlete of Organique Triathlon Team clocked 24 minutes and 46 seconds to win the women’s 6-kilometer category in a race conducted to raise funds for indigent children with autism.

Weekend warrior Cherry Andrin finished in second place with a time of 26:52, while Antoniette Velargo settled for third at 27:12.

Erediano, 13, will be competing in the girls’ 13 to 14 age class of the 2018 Ironkids Philippines-Cebu set on Aug. 4 at the Shangri-La Mactan Resort and Spa in Lapu-Lapu City.

Erediano of Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) was the champion in the 11 to 12 age group division last year.

City of Naga’s Joan Alinsunod outlasted Geneda Arcuino for the women’s 12K crown. The Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association (Cviraa) gold medalist Alinsunod finished at 53:16 and was nine seconds ahead of Arcuino.

Nancy Del Castillo was in third place with a time of 1:00:45.

Kenya’s Eric Chepsiror showed his usual force as he topped the men’s 12K race in 40:53. Agustin Ychon came in 41:13 for second place and Arnel Florentino snagged third place in 47:09.

Ruel Algufera was crowned the men’s 6K champion after clocking 19:45, beating Ariel Saballa and Andrew Kim, who clocked 19:58 and 20:33, respectively. (RSC)
