CEBUANO kegler Clarence Hubert Tiu of Bowling Tenpin Association (BTA-Prima) won the Classified Masters title in the 2018 MBA-Sarimanoks Singles Championships at the Coronado Lanes in Mandaluyong City last Saturday.
Tiu finished the 10-game series with a score of 1,942 to beat the Central Luzon Bowling Association (CLBA) bowlers Art Roxas and Lucky Hansel Cerezo, who scored 1,882 and 1,861, for the Classified Masters crown.
Tiu started the tournament with 204 and 177 before scoring his day’s best 215 to gain an early control over the other contenders in the Classified Masters, a division for players with 196-below average score.
Tiu, a zero-handicapper, continued to play well in the next four games, carding 202, 173, 214, and 198. He finished it off with rounds of 187, 202 and 170.
Jolo Ramirez finished fourth place with 1,853, while Reggie Gulinao was at fifth place with 1,852. (RSC)
