Ceres 10-man beats Davao Aguilas

JEFFREY Christaens, Bienvenido Marañon, and Amani Aguinaldo of Ceres Negros FC scored a goal each for a 3-1 victory over host Davao Aguilas FC on Saturday, July 14, at the Davao del Norte Sports Complex in Tagum City.

Kim Sungmin was the solo hitman for the Aguilas who started strong with Philip Younghusband's free-kick which was collared by keeper Toni Dublas.

OJ Porteria was open in the 17th but the ball flew over the bar. Ten minutes later, Mike Ott vanished from the field on an assistant referee's recommendation.

Aguilas threatened on the second as Coach Risto Vidakovic replaced Kevin Ingreso and Porteria in favor of Manny Ott and Carli de Murga.

Ott made his presence felt with a corner kick which Aguinaldo converted for a 2-0 lead.

After de Murga was fouled in the penalty area, returning Marañon made it 3-0 before Davao went to Kim.

With the win, Ceres is now six points away from the Philippines Football League title with 5 matches remaining in the season.

The Busmen will fulfill its commitment against Stallion Laguna FC and Global Cebu FC before hosting Home United FC of Singapore on August 1 in the AFC zonal finals.
