AT LEAST 63 criminals were arrested by the Benguet Provincial Police Office (BPPO) after its intensified anti-criminality campaign in the 13 municipalities of the province.
Senior Superintendent Lyndon Mencio, Benguet provincial director, led in enforcing the campaign in coordination with other operating units and the support of the community.
As a result, one top most wanted person (TMWP) in the municipality level, 31 suspects with warrant of arrest and 31 suspects without warrant of arrest were apprehended by the police for violating several laws.
On their campaign against loose firearms, BPPO recovered two caliber .38 with one no serial number, one Glock 17 with one magazine and nine ammunitions, a hand grenade, 11 ammunitions for cal. 38; one cal. 45 Norinco pistol, two cal. 45 magazine assembly, 20 ammunitions for cal. 45, and 50 pieces empty shell for cal. 45, one Caliber .22 assembled rifle; one stainless Colt caliber .45 with defaced serial number with one magazine loaded with eight ammunition, one Colt caliber .45 with one magazine loaded with eight ammunition.
On anti-illegal logging, 12 pine lumbers with market value of P96, 543.16, one chainsaw, two chainsaw blade/chain, one passenger jeepney, four liters gasoline, one bolo, two stroke motor oil and a chalk were confiscated.
On anti-illegal gambling, a total of P5,045 bet money, four notebooks, one ballpen, two bettor’s card list, two booklets and five sets of playing cards were seized.
This intensified operation is in line with the three main thrust of Police Regional Office-Cordillera regional director Chief Supt. Rolando Nana particularly on the war on drugs, anti-criminality and internal cleansing.
BPPO’s efforts is in collaboration with other stakeholders and the local government units to ensure the province will remain a safe place to live, work, study, and do business.
