ABS-CBN celebrates Cory’s birthday

THE Kapamilya network marked the 77th birthday anniversary of former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino with a special rosary held at the ABS-CBN chapel Monday evening.

The Special Rosary prayer was organized by Star Records and was attended by the networks head honchos like ABS-CBN head for television and production, Cory Vidanes and Corporate Communication Head Bong Osorio.

The rosary prayer was officiated by ABS-CBN's spiritual adviser, Fr. Tito Caluag and was also attended by kapamilya friends.

Singer, and another spiritual advocate, Jamie Rivera graced the event and sung a special number after the prayers.

Rivera told Sun.Star that she is very happy for being part of the Special Rosary prayers for the former President.

“It's an honor to be part of this. To be able to pray the rosary together with ABS-CBN and star records, a rosary intended for the soul of former president Cory Aquino," she said.

Rivera added: “It's a blessing kasi ito na lang naman yung pwede nating maibigay sa kanya diba. Yung prayers natin, masses, and yung rosary.”

She said they were able to share some rosary time with former President when she was still alive. “We prayed the rosary several times in the past yung ni-launch namin yung "Mysteries of Light" album.”

The late President participated in the album of Rivera, “Mysteria Lucis, The Mystery of Light,” which was also produced by Star Records.

Fatima Soriano, who first went to Times Street to attend Fr. Jerry Orbos's mass, also graced the event.

She said that President Cory will always be in her prayers.

On the other hand, Annabelle Regalado-Borja, managing director of Star Records, said the birthday celebration of President Aquino marks the kick-off of the chapel's activities in the coming days.

Borja said there will be a 6:30 p.m. rosary prayer every evening while Sunday masses will also be observed in the ABS-CBN compound.

Star Records recently produced and launched the “Pray The Mysteries of The Holy Rosary” album wherein the Aquino siblings namely, Ballsy Cruz, Pinky Abellana, Viel Dee, and Kris Aquino-Yap worked hand-in-hand to further advocate the praying of the Rosary.

“(The album) depicts the life and journey of Jesus Christ and his parents Joseph and Maria,” Borja said.

She added that they are very lucky because the Catholic Bishops Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) endorsed the album for being a good educational material and instrument for prayers.

Borja shared that Star Records is planning to tour Metro Manila and other provinces to spread the album's message.
