THE 2018 Calinan Fiesta Open Chess Tournament will unwrap on July 29.
This was bared by arbiter and Calinan Chess Club president Joseph Palero in an e-mail furnished to SunStar Davao. He said categories entered are 17-under, 16-under, 13-under and 10-under.
He also bared that cash prizes await winner in the one-day tournament sponsored by Representative Alberto Ungab in cooperation with Calinan Barangay Council and Calinan Chess Club.
The 17-under champion will receive P2,000 while the next four finishers will claim P1,000, P500, P300 and P200, respectively. The sixth to 10th placers will each get P100.
The top three Calinan players in this event will be given P500, P300 and P200. The boys 16-under and boys 13-under champions will each get P1,000 while the runners-up will have P700 apiece and third placers will take home P400 each.
The girls 16-under, girls 13-under and boys 10-under champions, meanwhile, will be awarded with P700 each while their next two placers will also win cash.
Registration is ongoing with an entry fee of P100 for 17-above players and P50 for Calinan residents in this category. All other categories will charge P50 for each player but Calinan chessers may compete for free.
