SSS southern Mindanao collection up by 9%

THE Social Security System (SSS) Mindanao South 1 Division collected around P838.41 million from January to March 2018.

“SSS Mindanao South 1’s contribution was up by 9 percent from the P766.71 million of the same period from last year,” SSS president and chief executive officer Emmanuel F. Dooc said in a press conference at SSS Conference Hall, Davao City yesterday.

Among of the contributing factors which increased the collection for this year was because of the coverage of job order and contractual workers under the KaltaSSS-Collect program.

The KaltaSSS–Collect Program, formerly-known as E-AlkanSSSya, extends SSS membership to local government unit (LGU) workers and other government agencies who are job orders or contractual workers and are exempted from the coverage of the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS).

“The Southern Mindanao Division was able to collect P13.79 million from over 11,000 Jos and contractual workers. We also received reports that some regular government employees also joined the pension fund as self-employed members. This is a good indication that they also trusting the SSS in providing them an extra layer of protection aside from their Government Services Insurance System (GSIS) benefits,” Dooc said.

He added that the SSS regional division will continue to strengthen its regular activities to further boost coverage and collection in the area.

Dooc said SSS will continue in conducting annual coverage drives, comprehensive employer division, and accreditation of microfinance institutions.

The SSS is also hopeful that through the conducted Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) that was launched yesterday, July 16, 2018, the collection from its members will increase.

The Mindanao South 1 Division includes SSS branches in Bislig, Tagum, Davao-Ilustre, Digos, Mati, Panabo and Toril.
