Burger Joint

There’s nothing quite like biting into your favorite burger. When the plump patty in between soft, slightly toasted buns has a semi-seared surface that gives way to tender, reddish meat on the inside, its juices oozing out and running down your arms. The curtain of cheese perfectly melted and enrobing the beef, fresh toppings of red tomatoes, white onions, crisp, not wilted lettuce, and a special sauce made in-house round out the flavors for this classic summer staple. Well, it’s no longer summer, International Burger Day was in May, and we’re way past the 4th of July, so what excuse do we have for coming up with this article? Who needs one when we’ve got these burger places all year round?

Big Tom’s Charbroiled Burger

A grand slam winner for Best Burger in SunStar’s Best of Cebu (2013, 2014, 2015), this brand takes pride in its six-ounce patties that are freshly ground, seasoned and grilled to medium rare perfection. No extenders, no MSG, just real beefy goodness.

Everything Yummy (food+love)

More known for its award-winning pork barbecue ribs and Champion Chops, this multi-cuisine restaurant started to include burgers on its menu last year. The owner’s creation, the Easy Cheeseburger, is as classic as it gets. What’s more interesting is how you can order add-ons and have them piled on your burger.

Weekend

Besides its bestsellers, Weekend is also home to house-ground Angus beef burgers. A must-try for meat lovers is the Blue Bacon Bomb. This carnivorous creation stacks thick cut bacon, spiced blue cheese sauce, Angus beef patty, and homemade coleslaw. Good luck with that first bite.

Backyard Burgers

This burger business started literally at the owners’ own backyard. Bringing pure primal pleasure from Davao to Cebu, Backyard Burgers uses beef imported from Australia and Ireland, authentic French butter for its buns, and herbs and spices from its hometown. Its selection ranges from Yard Favorites to Project and Premium Burgers, all begging to be savored.

Fat Cow Burgers and Malts

Premium beef burgers are this joint’s specialty. While you can never go wrong with a classic cheeseburger, other variants worth sampling are wasabi burger, Sriracha bacon burger, and the smokehouse cheeseburger. If you can’t take the heat, you can always order one of the bestselling malted milkshakes.

21 South Burger

Who doesn’t love a good hole-in-the-wall? Returning customers of 21 South Burger swear by the juicy, flavor-packed patties which are homemade. Go for The Beast which has two patties, two slices of cheese, bacon, mushroom, lettuce, all drizzled in its house sauce. All orders come with a side of Parmesan fries.

The Burger Joint

A favorite among Cebuanos, this place is prized for its hearty, flame-broiled burgers served with a whole lot of TLC. The bacon mushroom cheeseburger may be almost everyone’s “usual,” but picking the sides is tougher--the onion rings, fries, and potato chips are all TDF. Do take note that they’re open till 4 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Army Navy Burger and Burrito

Three premium patties sandwiched between light and fluffy, toasted black and white sesame seed kaiser buns, topped with lettuce, onions, and tomato--that’s the Bully Boy for you, one of Army Navy’s bestsellers. Pair it with the Freedom Fries and you’ll be marching in hungry, marching out happy.
