Valley cops ready for possible terror attacks

LA TRINIDAD’S police remain steadfast in countering any terror threat which might occur particularly in the tourist destination of the municipality.

In the radio program “Pulis Mo, Kaibigan Mo,” La Trinidad Municipal Police deputy chief, Inspector Dick Latogan explained the measures being implemented by town’s police.

“At present, uniformed and plain clothes police are manning the area at the Strawberry Fields where tourist converge and frequent. These are our tourist police who ensures the maintenance of peace and order in the area,” Latogan said.

Just like the night market in Baguio City which is considered by the police as a hot spot for terror attacks, valley cops continue to intensify the peace and order measures in the municipality.

“We have on standby, a team from the Public Safety Company who at any given time maybe tapped to assist and support our 101 strong police force distributed in the 16 barangays of the municipality,” Latogan added.

Located three kilometers north of the country’s Summer Capital, La Trinidad is the most frequented municipality by tourists boasting of its strawberry farms.

Aside from the strawberry fields, other tourist destination in the municipality include the Bell Church, Kalugong Eco Park, Dinangkang/Binanga river, Mt. Yangbew, Benguet Province Museum, Mount Costa, roofless art studio, BSU Orchidarium and the Colors of StoBoSa Hillside Homes artwork.

Considered as the capital town of the Province of Benguet, La Trinidad is identified as a first class municipality covering 7,004 hectares of land, and has a 107,188 total population.
