Opol-Basak-Bagocboc-Tingalan road to be constructed

THE construction of the 5.02-kilometer provincial road, from Opol-Basak-Bagocboc-Tingalan, will start on August 1, according to the information officer of the Provincial Government of Misamis Oriental.

Nicole Managbanag, provincial information officer, said the P75-million road project is the provincial government's solution to the traffic in the area.

She added that the initial plan is to have the provincial road from Opol town to Iligan City but due to the lack of funds, the road will only stretch for 5.02 kilometers.

“Yan yung road to declog the traffic yung sa main highway yung sa (That's the road to declog the traffic in the main highway along) Opol going to Laguindingan. Di ba masyadong traffic pag may banggaan, pag may mangyari na repairs, so ma late sa flight kung ganun. So plano ni gov [Misamis Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano] na gagawa sya ng other road na going to Iligan na yan (Traffic jams happen whenever there are road accidents or repairs so people going to the airport will be late. So governor planned to create another road going to Iligan City),” Managbanag said.

“Maghanap nanaman si gov ng other funds para matapos hanggang (Governor Emano will be looking for funds for the provincial road to extend until) Lugait, the last town of Misamis Oriental,” she added.

Managbanag said the provincial road will have a thickness of eight inches, two inches added in the usual thickness of a provincial road which is six inches, in order for the road to withstand the weight of heavy equipment and trucks passing by the said road.

Last Friday, July 14, a groundbreaking and capsule-laying of the P75-million provincial road was conducted. And on July 30, the project will be up for bidding.
