THE Cagayan de Oro City Water District (COWD) said in a recent survey that the increase in water delivery of 60 million liters per day (MLD) has greatly improved water supply in 11 barangays in the west side, including seven barangays in Opol town.
This after Cagayan de Oro Bulk Water Incorporated (COBI) finally achieved the 60 MLD requirement as stipulated in the contract.
However, after issuing the said advisory, the COWD announced yet again that supply will be reduced as they had to shut down one of its raw water pumps for repair. The water flow will reduce from 2,5000 cubic meter per hour to 1,700 cubic meter per hour.
COWD spokesperson Ladelle Sagrado said the normal 60 MLD has taken effect noon Tuesday, July 17 and will resume 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 18.
In order to verify the impact of the additional water delivery, COWD said it has conducted a survey on the water availability during nigh time among residents of Pag-ibig Citihomes. According to COWD, Pag-ibig Citihomes is among the areas with very low pressure of water.
“Results of the interviews show that indeed, the number of hours of water service has increased as compared to their supply prior to the 60 MLD delivery. Youngsville residents have also confirmed improved water supply,” it says.
“The customers expressed their satisfaction over this development and hoped this will be for good. Our monitoring in Patag and Bulua have all shown significant improvements in water service in the western part of our service area,” the COWD added.
Sagrado vowed to provide 24/7 supply by intensifying its non-revenue water reduction efforts and developing additional sources.
