FORENSICS experts from National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Central Office in Manila went to Barangay Ermita, Cebu City on Wednesday morning, July 18, eight days after four-year-old Skyler Abatayo was killed in a drug bust.
Lawyer Dominador Cimafranca, NBI-Central Visayas assistant director, said they conducted crime scene reconstruction and re-enactment of the incident based on the witnesses' accounts.
The forensics team led by Ligaya Banawan got measurements in the place and retraced the trajectory of the bullet that killed Abatayo.
The reconstruction and re-enactment started past 9 a.m. and ended around 12 p.m.
Dr. Rene Cam, NBI-Central Visayas medico-legal officer, said there is no need for a re-autopsy on Abatayo's body, saying they already have the autopsy from the police crime laboratory office.
He said the police's autopsy stated the slug that hit Abatayo's body was on a downward trajectory.
Cimafranca and Cam said their findings will be submitted to NBI-Central Visayas Director Patricio Bernales.
Cebu City Police Office Director Royina Garma welcomed the investigation of NBI's forensics team, saying they have nothing to hide.
The four Drug Enforcement Unit personnel of Carbon Police Station were reassigned to the holding unit of the Police Regional Office-Central Visayas. They were identified as Police Officer (PO) 3 Raydale Sardual, PO2 Dennis Estrada, PO1 Rey Dadula, and PO1 Wilbert Perez.
The paraffin tests on the operatives yielded negative results, which mean that they did not open fire. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
