MEXICO -- Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairmen of this town took time to become counterparts of town legislative officials in a bid to acquaint themselves with the rudiments of legislative work.
The activity was made possible through the invitation of Mexico Vice Mayor Jonathan Pangan to the SK chairpersons to sit as Municipal Council member counterparts to personally witness and experience how a regular session is being held.
Mike Castaneda of the Municipal Government of Mexico said that the activity provided the young officials with a firsthand experience of how to run a legislative proceeding and government meeting. This, as chairpersons are also required to run their own sessions.
They were educated on the importance of creating resolutions or adopting ordinances and practicing formal and legal proceedings in barangay and SK sessions.
