CHANGING exercise and eating habits takes enormous effort and willpower. There are no magical techniques for “making” you stick to your weight-control resolution. You must do the work, and the changes you make in your lifestyle will facilitate how you will lose weight.

When weight loss is the goal, people usually depend on their instructors/trainers, however, their role is only to give support and understanding, and give every motivational technique they know that will help you lose weight. But even with the watchful eye of an instructor sometimes people gets frustrated especially when weight loss is slow.

Weight loss can’t be achieved in one sitting, even with a weight-control program. In addition, changes may be occurring in body composition and hydration so that in some weeks of training the scale will show no changes that one can be frustrating. However, doing exercise and proper diet will surely shove that extra weight.

Losing weight is focusing on the process, not on the product, where the process is a healthy lifestyle, which will help lead to the product; weight loss. Lifestyle change is the only way to lose weight. Obesity for example where sometimes the cause is unknown, this situation is frustrating even for fitness professionals.

Because some people cope with negative emotions by overeating, changing firmly the entrenched, destructive behavior patterns of a person that have developed over a lifetime is needed, where the best advice to be given is to develop a healthy lifestyle.

Experts agree that lifestyle change is the only way to lose weight; however, there are so many obstacles to lifestyle change especially to those who lack economic and social resources. It is like swimming upstream in cultures where access to a healthy lifestyle is limited.

If you are really ready to change your lifestyle, make resolutions, set lofty goals and find a coach or trainer. But, changing your lifestyle is hard work that requires determination and dedication. So be ready to make your health a priority. Remember, coaches and trainers can give you good guidance and motivation, but you still have to do the hard work.
