Emano says Padayon is triumphant in Liga’s ABC elections

MISAMIS Oriental Governor Yevgeny Emano on Tuesday, July 17, said the Padayon Pilipino Party holds the majority of the winning liga ng mga barangay chapter presidents in the province.

Emano said out of the 23 municipalities and two component cities, 13 village chiefs under the Padayon Pilipino won the Association of Barangay Council (ABC) elections in each town last Monday, excluding allied barangay captains.

“Nalipay mi kay mayorya na pud ang Padayon Pilipino sa election sa ABC sa matag munisipyo,” Emano said.

The ABC federation elections in the province is slated on July 30, where all elected chapter presidents will vote amongst themselves for a seat in the Provincial Board.

Emano is urging the police and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) in Misamis Oriental to keep an eye on the upcoming election so poll-related violence is prevented.

“Kabalaka kita kay basin mahitabo ang susamang nahitabo sa Jasaan busa gi-aghat nato ang kapolisan ug ang DILG nga bantayan ang mga mananaog sa ABC kay basin naay mga tawo nga dunay daotang huna-huna og mohimo daotang tinguha aron masakmit ang politikanhong katuyuan,” Emano said.

It can be recalled that Danao, Jasaan town village chief Alfredo Zapanta was killed last July 13, three days before the ABC chapter polls, where authorities eyed politics as possible motive.

DILG provincial director Edward Bhagwani said they will meet all chapter presidents for a preliminary meeting on July 23, to lay down the guidelines for the federation elections.

Bhagwani said they are monitoring all chapter presidents to ensure peaceful and clean ABC elections.

“So far wala mi nakita nga kakulian ani nga election ug wala mi namonitor nga samok ug naay inatbangay pero kung naa man gihangyo nato nga ipaagi lang sa peaceful nga pamaagi ang piliay,”Bhagwani said.
