SOME 2,500 human resource practitioners in the country attended the Civil Service Commission (CSC) 2018 Public Sector Human Resources Symposium, first ever in Mindanao, during its opening yesterday July 18 at SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier, Davao City.
CSC Commissioner Leopoldo Roberto W. Valderosa, Jr. said they are glad to achieve their goal in bringing the symposium in Mindanao, specifically in Davao City, the hometown of President Rodrigo Duterte.
During the previous symposia that were more focused in change and transformation held in other cities such as Cebu and Manila, this year's theme is “Achieving Breakthrough Results through Strategic Human Resources (HR)”.
The participants came from the government, private sectors and from member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean).
CSC Chairperson Alicia dela Rosa-Bala said during the press conference that there are more than 30 speakers who will share their expertise in human resource management and imparting of their effective strategies in achieving desired results to focus and assess accomplishments of several organizations.
Bala added that this would highlight agency operations in delivering of excellent public service and highlighting insights regarding practices as well as experiences of developed organizations.
She said, “The holding of the Human Resource Symposium is part of our commitment in the Asean Leaders Declaration on being a catalyst for achieving Asean Community Vision 2025.”
She added that the event also aims to come up with avenues for capacity-building programs in enhancing the capability of civil servants mainly in the HR management area.
The event will also hold an exhibit of varied products and services from the cities of Davao, Tagum and from the Provincial Governments of Davao Del Norte and Compostela Valley. The leading human resource companies will also showcase their services and knowledge products.
“This agreement was signed by President Rodrigo Roa Duterte to accentuate the importance of the civil service in driving national and social development in providing vital services to the people of Asean,” she said. (Abigail Joyce C. Cahiwat, MSU-Marawi Intern)
