Cebu City’s seniors to share P67.3M cash this Saturday

AROUND 67,300 qualified senior citizens in all 80 barangays will receive on Saturday, July 21, P67.3 million worth of cash aid from the Cebu City Government.

The simultaneous distribution in all barangays will start at 8 a.m. Each person will get P1,000, the seventh tranche of the financial assistance that the City promised to them this year.

The Office of Senior Citizens Affairs, though, reminded the beneficiaries that the submission of authorization letters for their representatives will not be allowed.

The disbursing officers during the distribution will be composed of City Hall employees, who will personally give the cash assistance to bedridden beneficiaries.

In a Facebook post dated July 18, Mayor Tomas Osmeña said he is making good his promise to have the distribution monthly instead of biannually.

“One of my campaign promises was to make the distribution of senior financial assistance a consistent monthly event instead of having it done biannually on the whims of the mayor. It is a promise we are still keeping,” he said. (RTF)
