BACOLOD City Mayor Evelio Leonardia on Wednesday appealed to his political opponents to give him time to work so he can deliver the services to the people in the city.

Leonardia said he does not want to mind his political opponents who are trying to destroy his administration.

“Hopefully, they will not interfere so that we can work and deliver the services to our people,” he said.

This, after Councilor Ricardo Tan said that there is a discontentment on the group of Leonardia like the leadership problem and political crisis.

Tan said that he left Grupo Progreso and that he, along with Abang-Lingkod party-list Representative Stephen Paduano, might run against Leonardia.

Paduano has already transferred his voting registration to Bacolod and announced that he will not retire from politics.

In the 2016 elections, Grupo Progreso has 15 candidates and of the number, 14 of them won, Leonardia said.

Is he (Tan) trying to tell us that he is the only correct and all of us are wrong? Leonardia asked.

Leonardia said that right now, he does not want to entertain Tan because there is a right time for it.

He said Grupo Progreso is not a political party, it is some kind of brotherhood.

“If your behavior and attitude is not a Grupo Progreso so you are not a member of Grupo Progreso,” he added.

The mayor also denied that Paduano was in their political ally.

“We have never considered him as a political ally because even in the last elections, he was joining two groups,” Leonardia said.
