5 arrested as drug den dismantled in Zamboanga City

FIVE people, including three high-value target drug personalities, were arrested as government operatives have dismantled a drug den in an anti-illegal drug operation in this city.

The operation, which was jointly carried out by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and police operatives, have also resulted to the confiscation of 15 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride commonly known as “shabu” packed in six plastic sachets worth P102,000.

PDEA Regional Director Laurefel Gabales identified the high-value targets as Erik Jan Fernandez, Christle Mae Antonio, and Kimberly Garcia, who were tagged as the maintainers of the drug den.

Gabales identified the other two arrested suspects as Russel Gonzalez and Erika Gaganacruz.

He said they were arrested after they sold a plastic sachet of shabu to an undercover government agent during the drug bust at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, at Sun Street in Tumaga village.

The PDEA director said confiscated were P300 marked money consisting of three P100 bills, P886 cash, and other illegal drug paraphernalia.

He said the suspects were charged for violation of Sections 5, 6, 7, 11 and 12, Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
