IBF-MisOr lawyers on a roll

THE Integrated Bar of the Philippines Misamis Oriental Chapter (IBP-MISOR) Lawyers pulled their second straight win after defeating the 4ID Armymen, 68-54, in the 2018 Travelers Invitational Basketball League on Tuesday at 4ID Gym in Barangay Patag.

Bull-strong Roelle Valledor was strong inside the paints and finished 25 points for IBP-MISOR, while Robbie James Yparaguirre fired 21 points including four three-point bombs.

The Lawyers had a slow start as the Armymen opened with a 8-2 run after raining two treys from Ronaldo Villegas and Nathaniel Dawog.

From there, Valledor led the charge for IBP as the Lawyers overtook 4ID with a 18-17 slim margin at the close of the first period.

IBP final found their rhythm in the following quarter and took a 7-point advantage at halftime.

The Lawyers finally had a double-digit lead in the third quarter and even pulled their largest lead with 15 points in the fourth quarter.

From there, the Armymen tried to claw back to the game but could only manage to close by 11 points.

Villegas and Jerry Gomez scored 17 points each for 4ID’s losing cause, while Dawog gave 7 markers.

IBP now has two wins and a lone loss from the hand of the Eagles, while 4ID remained winless in two outings.

CVL Maguindanao finally posted their first win in the league with a 54-49 escape against MJM on Tuesday’s curtain raiser game.

Paje led the Maguindanaons with 13 points, while Ian Ang, Ferdinand Linaac and Marc Dunca combined with 20 markers.

MJM was on the verged on pulling their first taste of victory after dominating the half with a 30-19 lead.

MJM even stretched its highest margin with 15 points in mid-third quarter, but went cold in the final fourth quarter.

Paje was CVL’s missing link as he rained three successive treys in a 9-2 run to take back the lead with one point, 42-41, and engaged a seesaw battle with four minutes left to play.

From a 45-44 MJM lead, CVL had the breaks of the game as Paje pulled the dagger with three back-to-back perimeter shots and a trey to surge a 7-0 run with 1:07 minutes left.

“Nakulaps lang kami og kalit,” said Judge Isagani Ravidas of MJM.

It is CVL’s first win in three outings, while MJM remained winless in three games. (JJF)
