THE Mindanao Blue Knights Track League Season 5 will formally open Saturday, July 21, at the Ateneo De Davao University (Addu) track oval in Matina Campus.
Organizer Airnel Abarra said during the Davao Sportswriters Association (DSA) Forum held Thursday, July 19, at The Annex of SM City Davao that there will be more events with its new partner University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) which will host the field events.
Abarra also said that Dr. Lyllian Grace Banzon, a former national athlete in water polo and fin swimming and a professional runner and triathlete, will grace the opening ceremony along with Usep athletics director Dr. Jose Alther Rivera.
"Banzon will talk during the opening program on how sport can help bring what's best in us both in academic and health side," he said.
While the track events will be at Addu on July 21 starting 6 a.m., field events will be staged the following day.
"Dr. Rivera will lead an exhibition shot put event to inspire young athletes," he added.
Abarra will give away spike shoes donated by the German Sport University to top performers of the meet.
MBKTL is presented by the Office of the Athletics-Addu in partnership with University Sports Office of Usep and is co-presented by Creating Keepsakes Cafe and Piccola Bakeshop.
It is also backed by the Office of the City Mayor and endorsed by the Department of Eduation Davao City Division.
