43 Toboso farmers get land titles

THE Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) in Negros Occidental-North has distributed certificates of land ownership award (Cloa) and installed 43 agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in two barangays of Toboso town.

The distributed land titles cover a total of 30.77978 hectares in Barangays Bug-ang and Bandila. The distribution and installation rites were held on Wednesday (July 18) and Thursday (July 19), respectively.

Of the total landholdings, 8.0539 hectares was formerly owned by Raymundo Toralba located in Barangay Bug-ang.

Another landholdings of 6.1816 hectares, still in Barangay Bug-ang, was previously owned by Alipio Lubo. The remaining 16.5624 hectares of Lucio Barcelona is located in Barangay Bandila.

Officer-in-charge Municipal Agrarian Reform Program Officer Jasmin Castillo, who led the activity, reminded the farmers of their rights and obligations as new landowners.

Under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (Carp), farmer-beneficiaries should pay their annual tax amortizations to the Land Bank of the Philippines and payment of land taxes to the local government, respectively.
