NYC to build center for solvent-sniffing children

THE National Youth Commission (NYC) has allocated P5 million to build a rehabilitation center for solvent-sniffing minors in Zamboanga City, an official said.

Ma. Socorro Rojas, head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), said the center will be constructed at the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority (Zamboecozone) in Sitio San Ramon in the village of Talisayan, west of this city.

Rojas said the center will be managed by the CSWDO in coordination with the NYC. The center will have a capacity of 40 children.

Rojas said the center will serve as the rehabilitation center of solvent-sniffing minors, who will be separated from street children.

At present, they are housed at the center of the CSWDO located along R.T. Lim Boulevard. (Bong Garcia/SunStar Philippines)
