‘91 Saints set to debut in ABA hoopfest

THE Xavier University High School Alumni Basketball Association (XUHS-ABA) formally welcomes Saints 91 as the new but guest team in the 9th XUHS-ABA League tonight at XUHS Pueblo covered courts.

It is the first time in history of the league to have a batch with two teams.

The Saints are a split group from mother team Spartans 91 of ex-FEU Tamarraw guard Anton Pabillore and will face each other in tonight’s 8:15 pm main event at court 1.

The Saints are not a break-away or renegade group of the mother teams, but are basketball craze who wanted their presence in the league.

“Puno-puno man gud sila ug ang uban dili makadula, busa hangyo sila nga malahi,” said Barangay 8 councilman Ryan Somo, who is the manager and die-hard supporter of Spartans 91.

In other games, the Sprockets 95ers will try to rebound from their opening loss against the Strikers 96 as they take Nine 23ers in the curtain raiser game at 6:45 p.m. at court 2.

The Strikers, on the other hand, gun for their second win as they tackle on ex-St. Francis Xavier Cup champion Supremos 94 in another opening game at court 1.

Batches 2004 and 2006 will also collide at 8:15 p.m.
