Inter-public school caging draws 40 teams

AROUND 40 teams have confirmed to play in the 3rd Cagayan de Oro City Inter-Public School Basketball League, which opens today, July 21, at the West City Central School covered courts in Barangay Carmen.

No less than city sports overseer Paul Douglas Calingin will grace today’s opening ceremony at 1 p.m.

League commissioner Raul Fuentes said there has been an increase number of participating teams.

Fuentes said there has been an additional 10 teams from last year’s 30 teams.

There are eight teams participating in the elementary division. They are Tablon Elementary School baby Archers, Pagatpat Elementary School Spartans and Bulua Central School Clay Country.

The division also has City Central School Yellow Stingers, East City Central School Disciples, PN Roa Elementary School Valley Hoops and Xavier University Grade School baby Crusaders as its guest team.

There are also eight teams in the high school girls section composed of Misamis Oriental General Comprehensive High School (MOGCHS) BBG, MOGCHS lady Cavaliers and Indahag National High School (NHS) lady Skyhawks.

It also has Carmen NHS lady Thunders, Canitoan NHS lady Truckers, Cagayan de Oro de Oro NHS Tigresses and guest team XU Jr. High School lady Crusaders.

There are around 12 teams each in the 17-under and 15-under divisions.

The 15-under boys are composed of of MOGCHS jr. Cavaliers, MOGCHS Legends, Canitoan NHS jr. Blazing Bricks, Talakag NHS jr. Highlanders, Iponan NHS jr. Red Knights, Macasandig NHS, Indahag NHS jr. Skyhawks, City High jr. Tigers, Opol NSTS jr. Blue Lions, Patag NHS jr. Snipers, Canitoan NHS jr. Blazing Bricks.

Comprising the 17U boys are East Gusa NHS Phoenix A, East Gusa NHS Phoenix B, Canitoan NHS Blazing Bricks, Talakag NHS Highlanders, Agusan NHS Vikings, Macasandig NHS, MOGCHS Cavaliers, City High Tigers, Iponan NHS Red Knights, Opol NHS jr. Thunders, Carmen NHS Sky Thunders and Tablon NHS Archers.
