Ex-cafgu, farmer shot dead

A FORMER member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (Cafgu) and a farmer were shot to death in separate incidents in Negros Occidental Friday, July 20.

In Toboso town, former Cafgu Egan Carbajosa, 52, of Barangay Bandila was gunned down by two unidentified men believed to be suspected members of the New People's Army (NPA) at the said village around 3 p.m.

Chief Inspector Joery Puerto, town police chief, said the victim together with some bystanders were at a store when the gunmen arrived and approached him.

The then assailants fired at Carbajosa, hitting his head and other parts of the body.

He succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds.

The perpetrators shouted "NPA ni" (we are NPA) while escaping towards the mountainous area of the village, Puerto said.

Police recovered from the scene three fired cartridges of .45 caliber pistol.

Puerto said they have yet to determine the motive of the incident.

The investigation is still ongoing.

In Kabankalan City, Mario Marana, 49, of Barangay Bantayan was killed by an unidentified gunman at Barangay Locotan.

Marana was declared dead at a hospital.

Superintendent Jonel Guadalupe, city police chief, said they cannot yet divulge the motive of the incident as an investigation is still ongoing. (GYM)
