House owner injured in fire

A MAN sustained minor burns after he saved his family in a fire that destroyed their house at Grandville Subdivision in Barangay Daga in Cadiz City, Negros Occidental early Friday.

It left an estimated damage of P1.7 million.

Wounded was Francis Etuna, 56, of the said village.

Fire Officer 1 Ryan Tacsagon, chief of investigation and intelligence section of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), said the fire broke out around 3:13 a.m. from one of the bedrooms, initially due to an electrical short circuit.

The fire immediately spread to other portion of the house which is made of mixed concrete and light materials.

Tacsagon said Etuna sustained first-degree burns when he returned to the house to save his wife and three children, as well as their other things.

The fire was put out after 37 minutes.
