Borres cries foul in loss to undefeated Davis

TONIX Borres lost by a controversial decision, while Cebuanos Arnel Ylanan and Niño Rio Saoy walked away with submission wins in Full Metal Combat (FMC) 6 last Saturday night in Dapitan City.

Borres cried foul over the judging and officiating of the fight after losing by unanimous decision to Eman Davis. According to Borres, Davis landed repeated illegal blows that should have disqualified him.

Referee Joeniben Retes, who officiated his first MMA match, apologized for his decision not to disqualify Davis after a seeing a video replay after the fight. “He made a public apology but it’s so painful because everyone there thought I won it,” said Borres.

“It’s okay to lose, but on fair play.” Borres dropped to 4-2, while Davis remained unbeaten at 6-0. Ylanan of Deftac Vagabond MMA Studio caught Jake Quintero with an armbar in the opening round. Saoy of Mactan Combat Sports, on the other hand, also submitted Roldan Mogawa in the second round (EKA)
