2 drug dens dismantled, seized P102,000 in 'shabu'

THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) dismantled two suspected drug dens at San Juan Tunga, Barangay 5 in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental Sunday, July 22.

This also led to the arrest of three minors and eight others who yielded an estimated P102,000 worth of illegal drugs.

Joint operatives of PDEA in Western Visayas and Central Visayas, and PDEA Special Enforcement Service raided the houses of alleged drug den maintainers Mora Allera, Rex Romero, Abraham Caruscay, Efren Fernandez, and a minor, whose name was withheld.

Also arrested were drug den visitors George Caballero, Michael Dirindigun, Dante Visen, Warlo Cañoneo, and two other minors, whose names were also withheld.

Authorities recovered from them 13 sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) weighing 15 grams, the P1,000 marked money and drug paraphernalia.

Charges for violations of Sections 5 (sale of dangerous drugs), 11 (illegal possession of dangerous drugs), 12 (illegal possession of drug paraphernalia), 6 (maintaining a drug den), 7 (visiting a drug den), and 15 (use of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act of 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against them.

The three minors were placed under the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).

PDEA-Western Visayas director Wardley Getalla, in a press conference in Bacolod City Sunday, July 22, said they conducted the operation after receiving reports on the alleged proliferation of drugs in the village.

Getalla said they have yet to know the sources of the contraband.

He said they are intensifying their drug clearing operations in Western Visayas following their operations in Guimaras, Antique and Iloilo City this month.

Six drug dens were dismantled in the whole region in six months, he added.

Of the total number, four drug dens were dismantled in Negros Occidental, Getalla said. (GYM)
