Central Visayas police get 31 new patrol vehicles

THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Central Visayas distributed on Monday morning, July 23, the 31 new patrol vehicles to its lower units.

The Cebu Provincial Police Office (CPPO) received 19, which were given to its headquarters in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, and police stations in Alegria, Asturias, Badian, Balamban, Bantayan, Barili, Carcar City, Consolacion, Danao City, Liloan, Minglanilla, Oslob, Pilar, Pinamungahan, Poro, Samboan, Talisay City and Samboan.

Eleven patrol cars were given to the headquarters of Bohol Provincial Police Office (BPPO), Antequera, Bilar, Jagna, Lila, Mabini, Panglao, Pilar, President Carlos P. Garcia, Sikatuna and Tagbilaran City.

A patrol car was given to PRO-Central Visayas headquarters in Cebu City.

The vehicles will be used in patrolling, emergency situations and going after criminals.

Chief Superintendent Debold Sinas, the PRO-Central Visayas director, said the vehicles were procured by Camp Crame in Manila. He said the procurement process for the second batch of patrol cars are underway.

He said the Mahindra patrol cars that were flagged by state auditors are still in service but only in transporting personnel.

Sinas said each patrol car has a designated driver, a police officer, who will be charged with an administrative complaint if caught by superior letting unauthorized person drive the vehicle. (KAL/SunStar Cebu)
