Globe, Smart to cut off signal for Sona

TELECOMMUNICATION services will be temporarily turned off in various areas in Quezon City on Monday, July 23, as part of security measures for the State of the Nation Address (Sona) of President Rodrigo Duterte.

Globe Telecom Inc. said mobile services in the Batasan Complex, Commonwealth Avenue and Culiat, all in Quezon City, will not be available from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Smart Communications Inc. will cut off mobile signal from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

President Duterte is scheduled to deliver his third Sona at 4 p.m., Monday.

The suspension of telecommunication services is in accordance with the directive of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC), which was issued upon the request of the Presidential Security Group. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo/SunStar Philippines)
