Reduced budget: 27 events in Kadayawan sportsfest

ORGANIZERS of this year's 33rd Kadayawan Sports Festival, featuring 27 events, will be working on a budget lower than the P3 million pegged last year.

Sports Development Division of the City Mayor's Office (SDD-CMO) executive program director Cindy Cruz-Enerio, in an interview at their office yesterday, said, "We have lower budget this year because our office is preparing for next year’s new programs and events. We want to provide tangible provisions to our stakeholders."

She added that the SDD-CMO has been partnering with national sports associations (NSA) here for several years now but they are urging them to organize their own programs while the city sports office will just give them endorsement letters so they could generate sponsorships from the private sector.

She also said that SDD-CMO is preparing for trophies, medals and cash prizes for the winners of the upcoming meet.

“We’re preparing NSAs and other sports organizations for next year since we will no longer give cash prizes. We want to encourage and enable them to produce their own provisions for their event,” she said.

"Everyone is welcome to join,” Enerio stated.

Details of the baseball, football, judo, lawn tennis and softball tournaments have yet to be determined.
