THE Kapamilya network is set to bring new meaning to afternoon viewing in their latest soap "Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal" starting this January 25.
Starring Bangs Garcia, Rayver Cruz and Sid Lucero, "Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal" is a story of two friends bonded by love and will be tested by time and the characters’ personal struggles.
Bangs, who started in "Let's Go, Gokada Go" and "Palos" will play the part of Carmela, a loving daughter who will do everything for her loved ones.
A known dancer and included in primetime hit series "May Bukas Pa," Rayver will play the character of Troy, a friend and secret admirer of Carmela.
Rayver's character in "Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal" will be his first mature role as an actor.
"Time ko na din mag step up ako sa more mature role, gusto ko din
na mas iba na din yung ginagampanan kong role (It's also my time to step up and I want different and more mature roles)," he said.
He also said that it was his father who inspires him to do the role and perfect his craft.
"Si papa talaga yung naiisip ko, He's very boss yung dating nun yung iniisip ko na lang (I'm always thinking of my dad (doing his role) because he's really a boss looking type of person)," Rayver added.
Sid Lucero, coming from a very successful teleserye "Dahil May Isang Ikaw" will be portraying the role of Nilo, an intelligent and upright friend of Carmela.
According to Sid he is starting fresh for this project especially that he's under the direction of acclaimed director Chito Roño.
"He (Chito) told me to start fresh, to get rid of all my pocket reactions," Sid said.
He added that during their first shooting he already experience a tremendous amount of emotions and he was very blessed to have an opportunity to work with Roño.
"My dad always said that one director that I need to work with is Direk Chito Roño, and then I was afraid coming to the set of "Dangal". I set myself as a new actor in a veteran director like him," Sid added.
Sid is also included in the upcoming film by Roño entitled "Emir." Sid is set to fly to Morocco any moment to shoot for the film.
When asked by the entertainment press if there's any competition going on between Rayver and Sid, the two dismissed any rumors and said that they were actually helping each other for the betterment of the teleserye.
"An actor can only be as great as his actor/actress he is working with. It should never be a rivalry, that's why I am excited to work with Rayver," Sid said.
The two actors were also asked on their reactions when Roxanne Guinoo, who was initially chosen to play the part of Carmela, decided not to continue on "Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal."
"When I heard that Roxanne will be doing this of course I am excited because we were able to work together before. I also think it's a lot easier working with her because we already created that bond and when I knew that she will not do it, I was little bit disappointed," Sid said.
Rayver, on his part, said he's also disappointed because Roxanne is easy to work with and they shared good memories during their shooting.
According to the management, Roxanne was able to attend their first shooting day but after that decided not to continue because she has qualms on doing the love scenes. She was then replaced by Bangs.
"The role is really meant for Bangs. She's very easy to work with and she was the one who started to open up so it’s a lot easier for us," Sid said.
Also starred in "Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal" are Mickey Ferriols, Emilio Garcia, Bing Pimentel, Debraliz Valasote, Beverly Salviejo, Nikki Valdez, Paw Diaz, Bettina Carlos, Makisig Morales, Martin Rosario, Ella Cruz and Joshua Dionosio.
"Magkano Ang Iyong Dangal" will premiere on Monday after ABS-CBN's noontime show "Wowowee." (Glaiza Jarloc/Sunnex)
