DepEd welcomes more than 2,353,515 students in Central Luzon

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- In adherence to Department Order 12, s. 2018 entitled “Revision to Department of Education (DepEd) Order No. 6, S. 2018 (School Year 2017-2018 K To 12 Basic Education Program End of School Year Rites), the new school year officially marked its beginning of classes on June 4, 2018 in 3,628 public elementary and secondary schools in Central Luzon.

Based on the quick count as of June 28, 2018 a total of 227,853 pupils were enrolled in Kindergarten, 1,245,477 pupils in elementary schools, 719,495 students in junior high schools and the remaining 160,690 were from senior high schools.

Meanwhile, 550,949 students have enrolled in private pre-elementary,

elementary and secondary schools in the region.

DepEd-Central Luzon OIC Regional Director, Malcolm Garma, CESO V, led the

Oplan Balik Eskwela Task Force to ensure that concerns during the first week of classes in public schools will be properly addressed.

Some 20 schools division offices also established their respective OBE help desks to assist students and parents and provided help and technical assistance to all stakeholders. (PR)
