Realistic ‘BuyBust’

Hair and make-up expert Jun Esma expressed his dismay over failing to see Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto when the two visited Cebu for the promo of the movie “I Love You, Hater.” So far, he has not reacted to my Facebook posts on the Cebu visit of Anne Curtis, Brandon Vera and Arjo Atayde for the premiere of “BuyBust.”

“BuyBust,” an Erik Matti-directed movie, is characterized by non-stop, slam-bang action that happens in just a few hours and shows a very different Anne Curtis.

The movie is realistic: when after a series of gun bursts, the team ran out of ammunition, something which previous movies of this genre don’t care to take into consideration just so the action scenes continue to enthrall the audience.

A Viva Films production, “BuyBust” will open on Aug. 1.

From the talent stable of Curve Entertainment, which is handled by another good friend, Ciso Chan, comes the acoustic duo Both Of Us, which recently released its self-titled album.

The six-track collection contains acoustic covers of Extreme’s “More Than Words,” Bryan Adams’ “Heaven” and Jim Brickman’s “Destiny.” Also in it are original compositions “Broken Heart” and the title track “Both of Us,” which gave rise to the duo’s name. “Both of Us” is written and produced by Singaporean songwriter Amir Masoh.

Vehnee Saturno’s composition “Kung Para Sa ‘Yo,” originally sung by Willie Revillame, is given a refreshing take. It’s used as the local theme of GMA 7’s Turkish soap “Wings of Love.”

I planned to watch “Jacqueline Comes Home” last weekend but due to lack of time, I had to forego the plan. I’m familiar with the celebrated case but was just curious at to how this is presented.
