Police told to capture shooting suspects

ZAMBOANGA City Mayor Celso Lobregat ordered the police anew to run after the suspects in shooting incidents that happened Tuesday night in the city.

Lobregat issued the new order Wednesday, directing the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) to run after any and all suspects of the killing of Joselito Yanga, vice president of the Los Contratistas de Zamboanga.

Yanga worked at the construction firm JSY that is undertaking various infrastructure projects with the City Government.

He was driving a motorcycle on his way home at past 10 p.m. Tuesday when an unidentified gunman shot him dead at the junction of Maria Clara Lorenzo Lobregat Highway and the village of Tetuan.

"My standing orders to the police are not only to implement the gun ban strictly but to arrest the suspects of these killings. Many suspects of these killings had already been arrested and charged in court," Lobregat said.

He said the police told him at least three possible angles of the case.

"I also provided them with certain information about what I know," he said, but declined to elaborate further.

The mayor has also given the ZCPO a deadline to solve Yanga's killing.
