FORMER village chief Jessielou Cadungog survived an assasination attempt around 9 a.m. Monday, July 30, in Barangay Tejero, Cebu City.

The gunman, allegedly a police officer, was killed after Cadungog's companion was able to fire back.

Cadungog, now councilor of the same barangay, is reportedly safe.

Cebu City Councilor Dave Tumulak confirmed the shooter is a police officer but declined to name him.

Cadungog and his companion were travelling onboard his red Toyota FJ Cruiser along Villagonzalo 2 of the said barangay when the gunman shot him.

The gunman was wearing brown shorts, slippers and was riding a black motorcycle.

Cadungog figured in the news recently when he was named owner of the .45 caliber pistol recovered from slain Senior Police Officer 1 Adonis Dumpit.

Dumpit was killed in a drug-bust turned shootout in Tagbilaran City, Bohol last June 27.
