Woman stabbed by partner in Bago City

A WOMAN was seriously injured after she was allegedly stabbed by her partner due to jealousy inside their house at Barangay Malingin, Bago City, Negros Occidental Sunday, July 29.

Police withheld the name of the 52-year-old woman, who is a sugarcane worker.

Senior Inspector Hercules Trigue Jr., deputy chief for administration of Bago City Police Station, said the victim was about to take a nap after having a shower when she was approached by her partner identified as Noel Escanlar, 42.

Escanlar suddenly stabbed her several times when she refused the suspect’s request. The victim sustained multiple stab wounds.

The suspect also locked the door and windows of the house to prevent her from running away. However, when he saw his partner’s injuries, he brought her to a hospital.

Trigue said the victim was transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital in Bacolod City as she will undergo a surgical operation.

Trigue said jealousy triggered Escanlar to commit the crime as he is suspecting that his partner was having an affair with another man.

"In fact, Escanlar and the alleged man previously faced at the barangay hall for a settlement after he attacked the latter, whom he was accusing of having an affair with his partner," Trigue said.

Trigue said the victim is willing to pursue a criminal complaint against the suspect, who is detained at the police station. (GYM)
